Almost forty years ago, the leaders of a few congregations in Escondido and Poway decided something needed to be done to help those in need. Recognizing that they could do more together than apart, the congregations put their theological differences aside in order to found what is now the biggest social service agency in North County. Trinity was one of those founding congregations, and we enthusiastically maintain our devotion to Interfaith Community Services, whose work now spans from Escondido to Oceanside, serving veterans, families, seniors and singles who need a hand. Helping People Help Themselves is our motto.
Trinity’s regular participation consists of ongoing food donations to the emergency pantry. Groceries are collected at Trinity and delivered to Interfaith’s office. Trinity also has a regular commitment to serve breakfast in Interfaith’s kitchen, on the first Tuesday of every month. 6-8 people are needed at 5:30 am to make the whole thing happen. Trinity also supports Interfaith financially with regular contributions.
Other, intermittent projects also receive Trinity’s support. Trinity hosted a service-oriented Vacation Bible School in connection with Interfaith Community Services to teach children about generosity and compassion. Trinity serves dinner at the emergency shelter, when it is open. Finally, Trinity hosts the Rotational Shelter.

Rotational Shelter
Currently in our community, the only emergency shelter available for homeless families is one that changes locations. Managed by the Rotational Shelter Network, this shelter moves from church to church, spending two weeks in each location. Trinity has hosted the Rotational Shelter for over 20 years now, providing meals, overnight hosting, transportation and community for 12-15 homeless individuals and families. It’s a lot of work needing help from many, but it makes a difference. Look for details to come: Trinity’s shelter dates will be in the winter, sometime from January to March.
