In Jesus’ story, the Good Samaritan demonstrated love for his neighbor by stepping up and responding to the neighbor in need. Trinity’s Samaritans demonstrate love through advocacy, education and service:
Education:
Before we respond to the problems of our world, we need to understand them. Educational programs have included presentations from local organizations, book studies and discussions. Current programs include:
- Sacred Ground a video-based curriculum giving the history of racism in the US and providing the framework for reconciliation, developed by the Episcopal Church.
- Making our Faith Spaces Safe Spaces a program on racial reconciliation shared from a local perspective, provided by Interfaith Community Services.
- ChurchNext another Episcopal video program, providing information on a variety of issues.
Service:
Trinity members serve our community in many ways. As a congregation we currently serve:
- Haven House: Providing dinners at this shelter twice a month
- Interfaith Community Services: Sharing food and household essentials on a regular basis–remember to buy for your neighbors in need when you shop.
Advocacy:
Trinity members advocate for change local and national As a congregation we support:
- Escondido Together: an organization of faith communities working for unity within the City of Escondido
- The Diocese of San Diego: Our own Diocese, organized to make a difference
- Bread for the World: A Christian lobbying organization, advocating and educating about hunger, in the US and internationally
